Forum: GratefulDead Subject: Mozilla Firefox For Downloading Shows!!

Just wanted to share a little secret with fellow deadheads. With the Mozilla Firefox browser one can download songs from the playlist to their computer. I posted a review in "Grateful Dead Live at The Spectrum on 1994-10-05" on the basics, then posted a follow up. Well the follow up post overwrote my original post, but still has the basics of how to do it. For convenience's sake I'll copy/paste both posts here:

Mozilla Firefox...

... I've used Mozilla Firefox browser before to burn a show or two to disk. It's been awhile, but I seem to remember that you have to right click on each song in the playlist and choose download I think. Mozilla has like a litte download manager window that pops up and tracks the downloads. Once you've downloaded them all, switch to the little download manager and choose "open file location" I believe. Then you can highlight them all and drag and drop them to a newly created folder on the desktop or other location of your choosing. From there just load up Media player and burn the songs from the newly created folder to CD!!

Mozilla Firefox Follow Up...

I just installed Mozilla Firefox on my computer because it kicks Internet Explorer's ass. With Firefox I was able to download this show one song at a time to my computer. Works pretty much the same as my previous post laid it out. One extra thing I do, is to first left click on the song I want to download to highlight it and let it buffer into my computer memory. Then I right click it and choose "Download this song" from the menu. The little Firefox download manager pops up and downloads the song to the desktop by default. Then I just drag/drop the songs from the desktop to a newly created folder. From there I can just play them from my computer or burn them to CD!! Works like a charm!!

I case you haven't noticed, those who spend time here enjoying the music and creating a little community have an interest in respecting the limits of what allows this community to exist.

If you get an email response every time some one repies to your post, here's another polite request to not Fart it Up in Church and remove your offensive post.

Such underhanded dealings only get you mp3s anyway. Yawn. Better to use the abundantly available bittorrent options.

That's very true; and his FireFox hack is even slower than doing it with another program that is a part of the Windows operating system.

FireFox is good for getting into LossLess Legs, GD Files and other sites that are blocked by Internet Exploer 6 and 7. Sounds like the RIAA is paying Microsoft to to their dirty work for them...

I guess part of being a loose cannon is being wrong on technical explanations while actually doing greater harm to the whole enterprise.

Don't ask, don't tell works if you let it.

If you could be so kind as to remove your post, myself and others here (as you have probably gathered from the rather, shall we say, less than civilized replies) would be most grateful. Thank you ever so much for your attention in this matter.

Yours Respectfully,

A lot of trolls and potty mouths have registered here, just to stir up the crap in recent months. Nobody bothers to get rid of them any more; since Diana Hamilton took off about a year ago.

These assholes are gonna ruin the whole thing with their in your face dares to encourage Rhino to ban it all...

A minor point, but anyone seeing something headed up 'A Humble Request' with your name attached to it isn't going to take it that seriously.

Anyway, I'm betting we don't see the single-posting bum around here again. At least not wearing that disguise ...

On any other day I would take umbrage at such an underhanded attack on my good name (well, good initials if nothing else), but today is your lucky day. Just got word that an esteemed family member has obtained a bottle of Talisker and has deemed me worthy of sharing same this weekend. Oh, happy day, indeed.

Damn - just drooled on these proofs I'm supposed to be checking.

Enjoy the libation - there's only perhaps one other place on the planet it just might find a more appreciative audience.

"Seriously we do not download from this site nor do we talk about in our posts."

It's worse than that, WHARFRAT. IDIOTS are posting links to banned SBD downloads (on other sites) right on the Rhino owned and operated www.dead.net. Next time they should smoke a fattie in the parking lot of a police station and wonder why they got busted for weed.

Let's talk about being STUPID! Is there a better way to fuck everything up even worse than what happened right here in November of 2005? Keep that information to yourselves and don't advertise...

You can use the FireFox "down them all" feature to get entire shows; but remember tht those SHN MD5 file integrity signatures don't verify that way either.

I use a third party download manager called Net Transport. Works like a charm. Also avoid something called Download Accelerator Plus; because every 4th or 5th track reads corrupted...

DL'ING shows will make your penis shrivel up and leak "stuff" VERY unpleasant to say the least. When I first looked at this I thought Wharf had lost it but alas the old name switcharoo......SO original....
